Don Martin

Don is a highly experienced healthcare executive with a demonstrated ability to motivate and engage physicians, stakeholders, leadership team members and associates in the pursuit of innovative operational solutions for today’s complex healthcare environment. His success has been built on strong analytical decision-making and communication skills honed over 34 years of leadership experience predominantly in the ambulatory environment. He is an enthusiastic and gregarious leader who possesses an unwavering commitment to exceptional patient care and experience through engaged and motivated providers and staff.

Don was born in Charlotte, NC and grew up west of his birthplace in Stanley, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Barrington College in Barrington, Rhode Island, and Master of Health Care Administration (MHA) from the University of North Carolina School of Health Policy and Management in Chapel Hill, NC.

Don’s professional experience ranges from physician practices to large health systems. The commonality in all these positions is his hands-on, people-oriented approach to achieve operational goals. Equally adept at collaborating with clinicians and business office personnel, he has overseen development of ACO and clinically integrated networks, recruited physicians, managed the CON process, and supervised EMR implementation along with billing, purchasing, accounting and finance, compliance, and coding for increasingly larger entities. Don’s commitment to patient satisfaction has never wavered during his professional career and he brings that same sense of responsibility to his relationship with Shandon clients.

Don lives in Spartanburg, SC with his wife and dogs. He has a daughter, two sons and one grandson. A Tarheel, he is a huge fan of college sports, a voracious reader and avid golfer. Don enjoys home projects and traveling with his wife Karen.
